Position title: Doctoral Student, Epidemiology, Department of Population Health Sciences
Email: lgiurini@wisc.edu
Lauren Giurini is a 4th year PhD student in Epidemiology, whose interests are broadly health disparities, the social determinants of health, and access to preventative health care. Currently, Lauren is investigating the association between neighborhood socioeconomic status and colorectal cancer screening, specifically thinking about accessibility and preventive effects of the various screening modalities. She is utilizing data from the Southern Community Cohort Study, a cohort that oversamples participants that identify as African American and low-income, which is a unique fit, as the burden of colorectal cancer is higher in these populations.
