Ben is a Ph.D. student in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis and an Institute for the Education Sciences predoctoral fellow at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He previously earned a B.Mus. in choral music education from the University of Arizona (2013) and an M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership from Northern Arizona University (2021). Prior to moving to Madison to begin doctoral studies, they advised a Gender Sexuality Alliance while teaching choir and drama in a southern Arizona high school. A national board certified teacher and Arizona Teacher of the Year finalist, Ben’s research focuses on the intersection of education policy and LGBTQ+ student and educator identity, wellbeing, agency, and belonging.
