Joonwoo Lee, M.Ed. (he/him) is a Doctoral Candidate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research and clinical work center on supporting transgender and nonbinary (TNB) individuals who have experienced relational trauma with parental figures. Additionally, Joonwoo is dedicated to tailoring affirming letter-writing practices for TNB people and developing psychotherapy approaches tailored to TNB individuals of color. He co-developed The Companionship Model of TNB Referral Sessions for Youth and Their Families and has extensive experience delivering national and regional presentations to clinicians and trainees on affirming referral sessions for TNB youth and adults.
