Mengyu Li is a Ph.D. candidate in the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Using computational and experimental methods, her current works focus on how social media could both connects and divides people through the interplay of social, technological and psychological forces, with a focus on gender politics and public health issues.
Using computational and experimental methods, her current works focus on how social media could both connects and divides people through the interplay of social, technological and psychological forces, with a focus on gender politics and public health issues. More specifically, she investigate online expression and interaction across three dimensions: (a) macro-level cross-platform dynamics in social media, (b) meso-level prosocial support and antisocial harassment, and (c) micro-level multimodal message effects on perception and behavior.
