Yijun Won is a Ph.D. student in Educational Policy Studies in the Comparative and International Education concentration at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds a master’s degree in International Relations with a focus on International Educational Policy from Waseda University, where she graduated as a MEXT scholar.
Her research focuses on gender inequity in STEM education, with her previous work analyzing the decision-making processes of female high school students in South Korea regarding STEM track selection. Currently, her research examines the multi-level factors — parental, teacher, and peer influences — that shape gendered math stereotypes and their impact on STEM aspirations. Through her work, Yijun seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the barriers facing women in STEM and inform efforts to promote greater female participation in the field.
