IDS Affiliate Patricia Devine was recently elected as member to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS), along with nearly 250 other leaders from across a variety of disciplines and mediums.
Devine joins three other University of Wisconsin-Madison members elect: Harry Brighouse, Lisa Martin, and Mark Seidenberg. Devine is the Kenneth and Mamie Clark Professor of Psychology and the Social Area Group Chair in the Department of Psychology. Her research is focused on developing effective strategies for addressing unintentional prejudice and stereotyping in everyday life, particularly related to gender, age and physical appearance. Devine is the principal investigator for the Prejudice and Intergroup Relations Lab.
New members will be inducted in October of 2025 in a ceremony in Cambridge, Massachusetts. AAAS membership is highly prestigious and signifies leadership and notable contributions to a field over the course of a career.
